Amanda Catanzano joined the Secretary's Policy Planning Staff in May 2007. Her portfolio covers South and Central Asia. Prior to joining the Policy Planning Staff, Ms. Catanzano was chief of staff and advisor to the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization.
From 2004 to 2005, Ms. Catanzano served as special assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State, covering issues related to South Asia, nonproliferation and arms control, counterterrorism, and international narcotics and law enforcement. Before that, she was a South Asia analyst in the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research. Prior to joining the State Department, Ms. Catanzano worked as consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, serving both government and commercial clients.
Ms. Catanzano received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and received a Master's in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC.
