James Green joined the Policy Planning Staff in September 2006 and is responsible for East Asia. Prior to his current position, Mr. Green established and headed the government relations department at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai – Asia’s largest AmCham. Over the last decade, he has worked at the National Security Council, the Department of State in Washington, DC, and the U.S. Embassy in Beijing on a range of issues in the U.S.-China relationship. Between his undergraduate studies at Brown University and a master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Mr. Green taught English in China’s Hubei Province. He speaks proficient Mandarin and passable Italian.
