Christine Elder has served in the Bureau of International Information Programs since July 2007.

The divisions she manages in the IIP Bureau cover a broad range of programs for foreign audiences including blogging and electronic outreach teams in Chinese, Arabic, Persian and Urdu; websites in Russian, Persian, Arabic, Chinese, French and Spanish; U.S. Speaker Programs; the Department’s worldwide corps of Information Resource Officers; and regional teams for each major geographic region.

A career foreign service officer, Ms. Elder joined the Department in 1990 after serving as a delegate to the NAFTA negotiations for the Department of Commerce. Spanning both the civil and foreign service, she has also served domestically and overseas in the Bureaus of Near Eastern and European and Eurasian Affairs; the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs; and the Secretary’s Executive Secretariat.
