NAVIGATION (GPS and MAPS)

New-comers to the DC metro area should invest in a GPS unit or maps. There are many cost-effective GPS units available (TomTom, Magellon, Garmin, etc) that are suitable for the area. Many people also like to use ADC maps, which can be purchased at office supply stores, discount stores, bookstores, or online. Map books tend to cover only one area (DC, Montgomery County, Northern Virginia) unless you buy huge regional maps. Choose carefully.
